Racing games are quiet popular since they offer high adrenaline entertainment. Driving always comes with its thrills but most of us normally can't drive around at speeds we want either due to lack of a quality engine or because of real-life problems like road potholes and bustling traffic. Traffic racer games offer a quick escape from reality by allowing you to achieve whatever speeds you want and enjoy the thrill that comes with it without any real consequences. Highway Traffic Racer is a traffic racer game which tries to offer similar adrenaline thrills but whether it succeeds or not in offering a quality gaming experience is questionable.

Highway Traffic Racer is a very simple game and stays true to its genre throughout. There aren't really many options available to confuse you. You can start straight away and get into driving around as soon as you have installed the game and open the app. While the simplicity of the game is admirable, it's normally not a bad option to give such games at least some depth so that there is always something new to look forward to. However, Highway Traffic Racer is the kind of game that keeps it very simple and very easy and anybody who wants an open-and-play racing game would certainly like this approach.
There are four main options on the homepage. At the center is the Start Game button which puts you into the driver's seat. The second option is 'More' whereby you are lead to a page where you can browse through other games developed by aveCreation Laboratory. The third option is Settings through which you can control the volume of the game. The fourth option is Review and through this option, you can give the game whatever rating you want on Google Play. Your highest score is normally displayed at the bottom center of the screen.

Once you start the game, you are given three car choices and you can choose whichever one you want right from the start. No cars are locked and this is great as you don't really need to wait too much to unlock a good car. After the selection of the car, you are prompted to select a car color. The available choices are black, white, red, blue and green. Finally, you get the option of choosing between Automatic and Manual as your transmission type before the racing starts.
The racing gameplay is interesting but falls a long way short of really meeting the expectations for a racing game. There are basically two camera angles when driving the car. One is the driver's camera while the other is car's camera through which you can view the entire car. The game itself is basically about driving in traffic and covering as many kilometers as possible without sustaining damage to your car. If your car gets hit three times, your driving hours are over.

The most important aspect of any traffic racer game is control. The controls offered in the game are pretty poor and this is where the game needs improvement. You have buttons on screen to move the car in forward or reverse direction while you would have to rely on phone movement to take the car left and right. You have a Nos option available on the screen as well. If you choose Manual transmission then you would need to select the gears too based on the sound the car is making. The problem here lies in the lack of choice and a disregard for gamer preferences when it comes to control. Without multiple control options, anyone who doesn't like using buttons or the gyro meter during racing would be disappointed.
